To Have and Hold: Share Your Marriage Story to Protect Our Progress
Our freedom is ours to have and to hold!
In the years since the Supreme Court’s impactful decision, Obergefell v Hodges, we’ve witnessed looming threats to marriage equality, beginning with the overturning of nearly 50 years of precedent in Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization and including Kim Davis’s petition to the Court this August. While these headlines are disconcerting, let’s not lose hope! Obergefell is a decision that rests on a strong foundation with a wave of public support behind it—and we want to prove it.
You might remember that during the fight for marriage equality, Family Equality brought LGBTQ+ family stories all the way to the Supreme Court, where they were even quoted by the Justices!
In preparation for whatever the future might hold, we’re once again searching for storytellers to speak out. If you’re an LGBTQ+ person, a parent, a person with LGBTQ+ parents, a faith leader, a business leader, a neighbor, a friend…We want to hear from you! Even if you don’t have a marriage story of your own to tell, fill out the form on this page and share why you support marriage equality. Every voice matters!
Stories will be shared in a digital gallery, blog posts, and on social media with the potential for additional use in press.
