What’s At Stake for LGBTQ+ Families in the 2020 Election

After the 2016 election, we promised that we would do everything we could to protect the LGBTQ+ community. Since then, we’ve tirelessly fought the Trump administration’s repeated attempts to infringe upon the rights of our families.

In the middle of this pandemic alone, the Trump administration moved to remove nondiscrimination protections in the Affordable Care Act and argued that adoption and foster care agencies should be allowed to turn away LGBTQ+ youth and families. All the while, Black LGBTQ+ people—especially Black trans people—fought for their lives.

In the past four years, we learned that we need lawmakers who are committed to protecting the health and safety of LGBTQ+ families. That’s why making your voice heard by voting and by staying in touch with your elected officials is critically important. Part of Family Equality’s service to you is to make these commitments easy to keep.
