Kristopher Sharp joins Family Equality as Senior Manager of Child Welfare Policy, bringing more than a decade of experience at the intersection of advocacy, public policy, and direct service. Most recently, Kristopher worked at New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services in the Mentoring and Advocacy Program, where he provided preventative services to families in crisis and helped keep young people safely at home and out of the foster care system. Before that, he spent six years at Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, where he led the Young Leaders Program and built coalitions of young advocates committed to advancing human rights. Kristopher began his career on Capitol Hill as a Victory Congressional Fellow with the Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus, later serving as a legislative assistant to Senator Patty Murray on the Senate HELP Committee, where he was the House liaison during the reauthorization of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

A former foster youth from Texas, Kristopher has long used his lived experience to champion policies that strengthen families and expand opportunities for young people.
