Bethany Snyder

Bethany Snyder, MPP, (she/her) is an Advocacy Strategist, Enthusiast, Optimist – and the founder of Snyder Strategies, LLC, a boutique consulting firm she formed to share and leverage her deep understanding of the advocacy world with nonprofit and membership-based organizations.

With nearly 25 years of experience in communications, advocacy, and public affairs, Bethany is a seasoned professional and a nonprofit advocacy expert. She has been on all sides of the advocacy desk – as a grassroots advocacy director, a lobbyist, a consultant, a comms director, and a US Senate staffer. She helps turn nonprofit supporters into lifelong advocates and pass the policy solutions our communities need.

In addition to her advocacy clients, Bethany currently serves as the Director of the Iowa Nonprofit Alliance, which represents Iowa’s 23,000 nonprofit organizations and its dedicated professionals.

Bethany received her bachelor of arts in sociology and women’s studies from the University of Iowa and has a masters in public policy from the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.

In her spare time, Bethany serves her community by leading a community organization Central Iowa Rainbow Families, and as the board chair of One Iowa Action, Iowa’s statewide LGBTQ organization.

Bethany and her family have lived all over the country from Washington, DC, to Minneapolis, and Northern California, moving back to Iowa in 2019. They enjoy hanging out with their dog, Brownie, and cat, Viking, and traveling in their travel trailer as much as possible.
