Palm Springs, California — In response to the car bombing outside a California fertility clinic, deemed an act of terrorism by the FBI, Family Equality issues the following statement:

“Family Equality extends its deepest sympathies to the victims, families, and communities affected by what happened in Palm Springs this weekend. While authorities continue to parse through the intent behind this act of violence, we know it comes amid a wave of harmful rhetoric and the politicization of access to reproductive care.

“We also know that fertility care is an essential path to parenthood for many, including countless LGBTQ+ families. No one should fear for their life when seeking the care they need to build their families, just as no one should be denied the opportunity to find, form, and sustain their families in whatever way is right for them. Family Equality will continue pushing for laws and policies that protect the safety of patients and their access to reproductive health care, and we call on lawmakers and other people in positions of power to do the same.”
