Family Equality Raises Nearly $400K at Los Angeles Comedy Event Honoring Tig Notaro, Stephanie Allynne, Alec Mapa, and Jamison Hebert

On Saturday, November 8, 2025 Family Equality celebrated a special night of comedy to raise funds for its mission to protect and support current and future LGBTQ+ families across the nation. The event, attended by 300 guests, raised nearly $400,000.

Long-time Family Equality supporters and the evening’s honorary chairs Dan Bucatinsky, Colton Underwood, and Jordan C Brown kicked off the evening, which featured a star-studded lineup of comedians including RuPaul’s Drag Race star Monét X Change, Solomon Georgio, Bryan Safi, Tien Tran, Mo Welch, and Brendan Scannell as the evening’s host.

“I am grateful to even be a dad,” said Bucatinsky from the stage. “It wasn’t easy back then. It isn’t always easy now. But because of Family Equality and the incredible movement it leads, the path to parenthood for LGBTQ+ people becomes more accessible — and more equal — every day.”

In addition to creating a space for joy and laughter, Emmy and Grammy nominated stand-up comedian, actor, co-director, New York Times best-selling author, producer, podcaster, and radio contributor Tig Notaro and her wife, Emmy-nominated director, producer, actor, and writer Stephanie Allynne received the prestigious 2025 Family Equality Visibility Award, presented by Glennon Doyle and Abby Wambach.

Actor, author, and comedian Alec Mapa and his husband, producer and actor Jamison Hebert also received the 2025 Murray/Reese Family Award, presented by Lauren Weedman.

Between incredible stand-up sets, Family Equality board member Bethany Snyder shared her family story to showcase the impact of Family Equality’s work. “Underneath all of this [comedy] is something real,” shared Snyder. “It’s about making sure every LGBTQ+ family has the safety, rights, and joy we deserve. Because here’s the truth: Love is love — but it also takes great lawyers, lobbyists, and organizers. That’s what Family Equality does best. They make sure families like mine — and families still dreaming of becoming one — have the protection, support, and policy power they deserve.”

Jai Rodriguez, Emmy Award-winning actor, singer, and original cast member of Queer Eye, generously shared his talents at the gala by delivering a heartfelt and powerful ask, inspiring attendees to support Family Equality’s mission.

From the stage, Family Equality CEO Darra Gordon shared, “We must continue to build a world where we move forward, not backwards. Where we all have the freedom to flourish…That’s why we at Family Equality are doubling down and making sure every family in every corner of this country has the support and resources they need to protect their families, creating more and broader coalitions to protect all that has been accomplished, and most importantly, taking back the narrative so we are truly seen!”

The funds raised will directly support Family Equality’s policy and advocacy work, resource and education initiatives, and affirming spaces and programs for LGBTQ+ families across the U.S.
