Family Equality Invites Families to Cape Cod for World’s Largest Gathering of LGBTQ+ Families

From sports-themed celebrations to beach parties, drag story hours, youth programming, and a new mobile app, Family Week promises unforgettable memories for families with kids of any age.

Provincetown, MA —  The world’s largest annual gathering of LGBTQ+ families is happening in Provincetown, Mass. at the end of July when families arrive for Family Week 2026, hosted by national nonprofit, Family Equality. Hundreds of LGBTQ+ families from 28 states and six countries are already registered and hundreds more are expected to register in the days leading up to the start of the weeklong celebration July 25-August 1.

Now in its third decade, Family Week continues to provide something increasingly rare and deeply meaningful: a place where LGBTQ+ families can be surrounded by families who look like theirs in a welcoming and inclusive community.

“Family Week is an experience that reminds families they are never alone,” said Darra Gordon, Chief Executive Officer of Family Equality. “For many parents and children, it’s the first time they’ve been surrounded by hundreds of other LGBTQ+ families. They leave with friendships, confidence, and a renewed sense of belonging that stays with them long after they return home. At a time when many families are looking for hope and connection, there has never been a more meaningful time to come together.”

Favorite traditions return this year, including:

  • Beach Bash – One of the week’s most beloved gatherings, where families head to the beach for sandcastles, games, music, and unforgettable sunsets together.
  • Family Pride Parade – Families march through the heart of Provincetown with signs, music, and plenty of rainbow spirit in a joyful celebration of LGBTQ+ family pride.
  • Family Dance Party – A chance to celebrate the week together on the dance floor and share highlights from the week.
  • Drag Storytime with Tara Hoot and family-friendly performances that bring laughter and joy for kids and parents alike.
  • Daily gatherings, yoga, and affinity spaces where parents, caregivers, and youth can connect with others who share similar experiences.

And a New Twist on an Old Favorite:

  • Family Night – An evening in the park with carnival games, food, music, and even a dunk tank.

“Every year we hear the same thing from our guests: ‘I didn’t realize how much I needed this,'” said Dejon Campbell, Senior Manager of Program Events at Family Equality. “Family Week creates moments that become lifelong memories and friendships. We can’t wait to welcome new and returning families to Provincetown.”

Families are encouraged to register soon and download the event app before arriving to connect with fellow attendees, explore the full schedule, and plan their week.
