Meet the Family Week 2012 Team!

Check out the amazing team of staff who are travelling to Ptown to meet you at Family Week this summer! For general family Week info, click here.

I’m Brent, the Director of Programs for Family Equality Council and one of the lead organizers of Family Week.  My husband of over twenty years, Sandis, and I have two daughters, Olivia (age 3) and Noelle (6 months.) Family Week is one of the absolute best parts of my job – last summer our three year-old totally fell in love with Provincetown and we can’t wait to introduce our family’s new addition, Noelle, to Family Week this year!

Hi, I’m Andra, the Programs Associate at Family Equality Council and one of the lead organizers of Family Week. I love exploring cultures and countries: so far, I’ve studied in France, interned in England, and conducted research in Australia. I’m most excited about all the new events we’re offering this year based on your feedback, and seeing all the returning families who are such an amazing part of our community!

Hi, I’m Sarah and I can’t wait for my second Family Week! I love baking in my free time and I don’t think any recipe is complete without a few generous tablespoons of butter. I am so stoked to dance the night away at Family Dance at the end of Family Week!

My name is Katie, this is my second summer with Family Equality Council and I couldn’t be more excited for my second Family Week! I love to cook, read, Law and Order SVU, mashed potatoes, and all things to do with Beyoncé. I can’t wait to see all the returning families and meet our new ones this summer in Ptown!

My name is Alexa and I am overjoyed to be a returning intern this year for my second Family Week! I love American history trivia, any food item with cheese on it, and iced coffees with cinnamon. Come dance along with me at this year’s Dance Camp—as I will be the instructor and resident Dance lover!

I’m Anna Leigh, I’m from a rural town in south Georgia, and I am going to be a senior at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. When I’m not thinking about how excited I am for Family Week, you can find me out and about, cooking terrible food, shopping on eBay, or trying to find my car keys. After I graduate I want to work helping to bridge the gap between LGBT people and the church, so I’m especially excited to be helping with our brand-new Interfaith Mixer.

Hey! My name is James Vamboi. I believe smiles are contagious, and I’m notorious for dancing at unexpected moments. I like sweaters, suspenders, friendly cats, and marshmallows out the bag. I believe in the mission of Family Equality Council with all of my being, and I’m excited to help them make your Family Week amazing. I’m helping with our brand-new Athletics Camp for pre-teens and couldn’t be more excited to bring all kinds of sporty fun to Family Week!

I’m Hilary, I am an artist and a linguist currently living in Boston, I go to school in New York City, I was born and raised in Maryland, and my family is originally from Monrovia, Liberia! Having grown up in an African household, I’ve been happily raised on spicy food, lots of music and dancing and a large group of loving people. I am excited to re-experience this kind of community with all of the diverse families at Family Week this year and share my love of community pride during the family pride parade!

Greetings, friends! My name is Marian, and I hail from the San Francisco Bay Area, greatly missing my dad’s Filipino home-cooking and my spacious queen-sized bed. I love foamy soap, baby animals, and traveling, and any person who is up for sushi is my new best friend. I can’t wait to hear all the teens at the Outspoken Generation panel!

My name is Faith and I am the proud mother of a very furry and intelligent canine daughter named Frieden (she is an Australian Shepherd). I live in New Hampshire where I grow my own vegetables, hike on beautiful tree lined paths, and spend lots of quality time with friends, family, and my partner (Caroline). I am most excited about meeting all of the diverse families at Family Week and participating in the first ever Trans* Families Gathering!

I’m Ally, a recent Bowdoin College graduate and lifelong musical theater person. When I’m not planning Family Week (and even when I am) I’m usually singing at the top of my lungs or cooking enormous meals for small groups of people. I am incredibly excited to play with the little ones at our Little’s Gatherings and the grown-ups at the LGBT film festival!

I’m Katie, a fast-talking, loud-laughing ginger from outside Philadelphia. My favorite human invention is the spork, I love making up silly new words, and I can’t wait for the day when my house is full of every pug ever. Yes, ever. Since I’m coming to Family Week as a Child Development major at Tufts University, I’m so looking forward to helping with Kidapalooza and having fun being a kid at heart!

Hey, my name is George and I am a rising junior at Tufts University majoring in Religion, International Finance, and Arabic. I am super excited to speak to all of you in the many languages I know – especially my first language, Greek! I love studying world spirituality, and am looking forward to the Shabbat ceremonies at Family Week, especially sharing the Challah bread that I will be baking for everyone.

Hi folks, my name is Vanessa Emond, I’m from Quebec and I just graduated from St-Lawrence University in upstate New York. My field of interest is communications and I’ve played hockey for 16 years. Being an athlete has allowed me to travel a ton and live amazing experiences all over the continent. I’m excited to meet you all at Family Week in PTown!

My name is Jen Meyers and I am the proud mother to two amazing sons, Asher and Bodhi. In my free time I love playing guitar, listening to good music, and spending time with my family. Family Week is my favorite week of the year and I can’t wait to see you there!

I’m Becky Sniderman and I’m thrilled to be attending my second Family Week! Outside of the office, I sing with an LBT women’s group in Boston, Voices Rising, and am excited to start serving as a steering committee member for Fenway Health’s Young Leaders Committee.  I can’t wait to meet many different types of families at the Happy Hour gatherings and bond with the youngsters during Kidapalooza.

My name is Heron Greenesmith and I’m Family Equality Council’s legislative counsel. When I’m not working on laws and regulations, I hang out with my partner and my cat in Washington DC, cooking, reading, crocheting, and enjoying our little garden.  I’m excited for my first Family Week: I grew up in Rhode Island and love every chance to come back to beautiful New England.

My name is Lis, I’ve been attending Family Week since 2010, and I can’t wait to be back in the surf and sun! I love being outside, building things and riding my bike, so Family Week is really the highlight of my year. My favorite part is the bonfire – there’s nothing better than spending time with awesome families while roasting marshmallows on the beach!

Hi, I’m Bill and this is my third Family Week but my first as a new Dad! It’s been a pleasure to spend quality time reading to your 3-8 year olds in Kid’s Programming, playing with the “Littles’’ every morning, and marching your families in the parade.   Late last year my partner Nelson and I adopted two boys and we can’t wait to have them experience all of the amazing programming Family Week has to offer.

I’m Riane and I am so excited to be attending Family Week for my second year! You’ll probably recognize me as the girl with the camera in her hands the entire time. While I’m away at Family Week I will be missing all my animals that I will be leaving at home– including my dog (Lucy), my cats (Charlie and Izzi), and my fiancé (Cliff).

I am Jeremiah, the Events Associate for Family Equality Council, and I am very excited to be attending my first ever Family Week.  Outside of the office I like to spend my free time painting, hiking, or spending time with my loving boyfriend…Netflix.  This week I am most looking forward to making s’mores at the Beach Picnic & Campfire and busting a move at the Family Dance!

My name is Steve, and I am the Director of Communications for the Family Equality Council. My partner Todd and I live in Takoma Park, Maryland with our two daughters, Claudia and Shoshana. I can’t wait to meet you all at Family Week.

My name is Sean, and I’m the New Media Manager at the Family Equality Council. I’m excited to bring my fiance, Jamie, to our second family week. We’ll also be scouting locations and planning our wedding which we’ve decided to hold in P-town next year!

I am Jack Nguyen. I work as an IT Associate for Family Equality Council, where I provide technical support to staff and interns. This will be my first Family Week and I am really excited to celebrate Family Week together with all of our families.

I’m Elaine Lee and I’m the Annual Fund Manager at Family Equality Council. In my spare time I love baking and talking about food. This will be my 3rd Family Week and I’m looking forward to spending a week with all of our families and my favorite event, the annual Beach Picnic & Campfire!
