World’s Largest Gathering of LGBTQ+ Families Opens for 2026 Family Week in Provincetown

LGBTQ+ families to gather for “We Are Champions” celebration.

Provincetown, Mass. — Registration is now open for the 2026 edition of Family Week, the world’s largest annual gathering of LGBTQ+ families. Hosted by Family Equality, the weeklong celebration will take place July 25-August 1, 2026 in Provincetown, Mass.

Now in its fourth decade, Family Week brings together hundreds of LGBTQ+ families from across the United States and around the world for a week of connection, learning, and celebration. The 2026 theme, “We Are Champions,” celebrates the strength, resilience, and joy of LGBTQ+ families, with activities inspired by sports, teamwork, and community while continuing the wide range of programming families have come to love.

“Research from the Williams Institute estimates that about 2.57 million LGBTQ+ adults are parenting children under 18, raising roughly five million children nationwide,” said Tonya Agnew, Vice President of Communications & Marketing for Family Equality. “We’ve made progress but those families still face a changing and confusing policy landscape that can impact everything from parental recognition to healthcare and schools. In 2025 alone, more than 600 anti-LGBTQ+ bills were introduced in state legislatures nationwide. While the majority of those bills were ultimately defeated, the volume of legislation and the public debates surrounding it still create uncertainty and stress for families. Gatherings like Family Week provide a rare opportunity for families to connect and celebrate.”

Throughout the week, families can participate in a variety of programs and traditions designed for all ages. Beloved highlights include the Beach Bash, where families gather along Provincetown’s shoreline for seaside fun; Drag Story Hour; the Family Pride Parade, which fills the town’s streets with signs, music, rainbows, and celebration; and family-friendly performances, play time, and affinity gatherings that bring participants together throughout the week.

“Family Week is a place where LGBTQ+ families can be fully themselves and experience the power of community,” said Dejon Campbell, Senior Manager, Program Events for Family Equality. “For many parents and kids, Family Week is the first time they’ve been surrounded by hundreds of families that look like theirs. This year’s ‘We Are Champions’ theme celebrates the everyday courage and commitment it takes to build loving families and supportive communities – and the joy of doing it together.”

Since its humble founding as a small gathering of a few families in 1994, Family Week has grown into an internationally recognized event that offers LGBTQ+ families a welcoming space to connect and create lasting memories together.
