NEW YORK — Today the Child-Parent Security Act passed the New York Assembly Judiciary Committee with a 13-3 vote. Speaking on behalf of the Protecting Modern Families Coalition, Family Equality Council CEO The Rev. Stan J. Sloan issued the following statement:
“Thank you to Assemblywoman Amy Paulin, Chairman Jeffrey Dinowitz, and the Assembly Judiciary Committee for making the Child-Parent Security Act a priority this session by approving the legislation in today’s meeting. With Governor Cuomo’s support and the support of so many legislators, the Child-Parent Security Act is on its way to further solidifying New York as one of the most progressive states in the nation by allowing more New Yorkers the opportunity to build and protect their family.”
The Protecting Modern Families Coalition advocates for New York families who rely on advances in medical assistance to have children. The coalition is made up of leading LGTBQ, infertility, faith, and women’s organizations dedicated to passing the Child-Parent Security Act during the 2019 legislative session.
