LGBTQ+ families are invited to attend a weekend of activities and connections in Minneapolis, October 25-27.
Minneapolis, MN — Family Equality, the leading national organization for current and future LGBTQ+ families, invites families from Minneapolis and around the midwest for a weekend of community and connection the weekend of October 25-27. The event is presented by Target and hosted by Family Equality, Twin Cities Pride, and Kenvue’s CARE WITH PRIDE® initiative.
“We are thrilled to welcome families to my home state, Minnesota, for this year’s Family Weekend in the Midwest,” said Alexis Kantor, Interim President & CEO. “As a midwestern parent in an LGBTQ+ family, I know how important it is for us to build community right here in the middle of the country, where many of us are currently facing threats from our state houses and school boards. We hope to see many families from near and far — in and around Minnesota — joining us for this weekend of exciting activities!”
Family Weekend in the Midwest is designed to bring LGBTQ+ families together for an unforgettable experience. Families will kick off the weekend with a lively welcome pizza party, followed by a jam-packed schedule of activities tailored for all ages.
Activities include:
- Welcome Pizza Party
- Community Partners Exhibition
- Coffee & Conversation – an informal panel discussion about topics important to LGBTQ+ families
- Donuts & Drag
- Costume Contest
- Twin Cities Pride’s Trunk-or-Treat
Events and activities will be hosted at Loring Social at 1629 Hennepin Ave #300E, Minneapolis, except for two special-access tours, which will be at their respective locations, and the Trunk or Treat, which will be at Loring Park across from Loring Social.
Families need to register ahead of time and, to ensure Family Weekend in the Midwest is equitable and affordable, there is a “pay what you can” ticket option.
