Family Equality to Honor Tim Gill and Scott Miller at September 17 “Our Families, Our Future: What’s at Stake” Virtual Event

Jonathan Murray and Harvey Reese will Present the Murray/Reese Family Award to Tim Gill and Scott Miller, Co-Chairs of the Gill Foundation

NEW YORK —  Family Equality, the nation’s leading organization for LGBTQ+ families and those who wish to form them, is delighted to announce the recipient of the 2020 Murray/Reese Family Award: Tim Gill and Scott Miller, co-chairs of the Gill Foundation. The award will be presented by Jonathan Murray and Harvey Reese.

With Family Equality’s 2020 Night at the Pier and LA Impact Awards galas cancelled as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s Murray/Reese Family Award will be presented as part of Our Families, Our Future: What’s at Stake—a virtual event on September 17, where we’ll be sharing the stories of our families and hosting an expert roundtable discussion to discover what’s on the line for our families this November and beyond. To get tickets or make a donation to Family Equality in support of the event, visit www.familyequality.org/rsvp.

“Tim Gill and Scott Miller have supported the progress of the LGBTQ+ movement for decades, tirelessly pushing to expand legal protections for our families across the country,” said Denise Brogan-Kator, CEO (Interim) and Chief Policy Officer of Family Equality. “Through their work with the Gill Foundation, Tim and Scott have also been dear friends of Family Equality’s over the years, supporting our policy and programmatic work to make sure that LGBTQ+ people are able to become parents, and to thrive as LGBTQ+ families.”

“Since its inception, Family Equality has fought tirelessly to ensure that all loving couples have the same opportunity to form families, take care of each other, and protect their children,” said Gill and Miller. “We are exceptionally proud to stand beside Family Equality in that mission and humbled to receive this distinguished honor. Now, as LGBTQ people and families still lack legal protection from discrimination in a majority of states today, The Gill Foundation will continue to lock arms with Family Equality to fight for a fairer tomorrow for LGBTQ families everywhere.”

“It is our distinct honor to present the 2020 Murray/Reese Family Award to Tim Gill and Scott Miller,” said Jonathan Murray and Harvey Reese. “The work of Tim, Scott, and everyone at the Gill Foundation has empowered Family Equality to amplify the stories of families like ours and has helped us achieve greater equality. We recognize the significant impact the Gill Foundation has had on LGBTQ+ families across the nation, and we are grateful for the ongoing partnership between the Gill Foundation and Family Equality.”
