The largest annual gathering of LGBTQ+ families in the world was needed more than ever as LGBTQ+ families face increasing threats to their freedoms
Provincetown, MA – Family Equality and COLAGE joined hundreds of LGBTQ+ families in beautiful Provincetown, Massachusetts for the beloved annual Family Week, the largest annual gathering of LGBTQ+ families in the world. From July 23 – July 29, 2022, we welcomed over 1,900 registered attendees and almost 600 families from 35 states, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Israel, Thailand, Denmark, Costa Rica, Germany, and Canada for a family-friendly week on the Cape. Attendees enjoyed daily gatherings, affinity spaces, COLAGE programming for youth with one or more LGBTQ+ parents or caregivers, movie screenings, beach parties, and our first annual Family Night: Y’all Means All community fundraiser for Family Equality and COLAGE.
“At a time when we’re seeing threats to our families’ freedoms everywhere from state legislatures to the highest court in the nation, creating a space for LGBTQ+ families to find friendship and fun has never been more important,” says Stacey Stevenson, CEO of Family Equality. “I am leaving Provincetown with my sons and my wife remembering that joy, more than ever, is an act of resistance. Family Week in Provincetown, Massachusetts is the largest annual gathering of LGBTQ+ parents and their children in the world. Family Week 2022 is the 28th anniversary of this special event. Each year hundreds of families come together from over thirty states and from around the world.
