Join Jonathan Van Ness, Family Equality and OurShelves, a queer-owned diverse kids’ book box service and advocacy effort, for a special reading of Peanut Goes for the Gold. Bookmark this page or tune in on Facebook at the time of the event to watch!

About OurShelves

OurShelves is a queer-owned diverse kids’ book box service and advocacy effort. They seek to connect existing hard-to-find, high-quality diverse stories with those seeking them. They also aim to empower families, teachers and librarians to offer children the most beautiful stories that both ignite imagination and wonder and reflect our values of equity, inclusion, social justice, love, and fun.  Learn more about the stories inside their boxes.

OurShelves also connects the expertise of families, teachers, and librarians – about what diverse content is still missing in kids’ books – with publishers to advocate for the creation of more diverse books. Learn more about how they’re harnessing consumer power to accelerate change in the picture book industry.

About Family Equality

Family Equality advances legal and lived equality for LGBTQ+ families, and for those who wish to form them, through building community, changing hearts and minds, and driving policy change. Family Equality believes every LGBTQ+ person should have the right and opportunity to form and sustain a loving family, regardless of who they are or where they live.
