This peer support space is a place for any and all parents & caregivers who identify as transgender, non -binary, gender nonconforming or anywhere on the genderqueer spectrum. This space is meant for folks to connect, build community and engage in conversation with peers. Feel empowered to bring your frustrations, your joys, your tools for coping, etc – this group is meant to be whatever participants need it to be!
We are delighted to announce that this week’s transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming parents meet-up will have a special guest! Aydian Dowling is an activist, Youtube vlogger, entrepreneur, and transgender dad. Aydian was not only the first trans person on the cover of Men’s Health magazine but also the first trans person on the cover of an international LGBT magazine. As a motivational speaker, Aydian uses his platform to shine a light on the struggles and joys of the transgender community. Most recently, Aydian’s journey has included parenting a young toddler and we can’t wait to discuss the struggles and joys of queer parenting with him!
Jess Venable-Novak is on staff at Family Equality and will be the group’s facilitator. They are a young, non-binary step-parent living in rural Vermont. Jess is looking forward to holding space for parents & caregivers like them to find each other and connect.
*Please note: This event is for trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming folks only.
