Saturday, October 11 Family Equality Council celebrated is National
Awards Dinner with 160 guests at the Petersen Automotive Museum in
Los Angeles.
This year we honored HBO and the Pop Luck Club, an LA-based gay dads
organization, for their invaluable contributions to achieving
family equality.
Cynthia Nixon was our featured guest!
In the 7 days leading up to the National Awards Dinner, Jennifer
Chrisler and Daniel Robinson joined up with our on-the-ground
family organizer Ember Cook to spend time with families working to
defeat Prop 8 and to call voters and raise funds for the No on 8 campaign.
Both Jennifer and Daniel spent the previous weekend with families
at our annual Families in the Desert event, this year in Palm
Desert, CA.
In the last three weeks, Family Equality Council has raised
over $35,000 in online donations for the No on 8 campaign
by asking our family supporters to give what they can. We’re still
shy of our organizational goal of $40,000 and the campaign
desperately needs these funds. If you haven’t yet given to defeat
Prop 8, or even if you have, now is the time to dig deep and donate
what you can to ensure marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples
in California and to keep the opponents of equality from pushing
these divisive and hurtful ballot measures nationwide.
Give today through our special donation page so
your money goes directly to the No on 8 campaign!
The other side has twice (TWICE!) the number of donors we’ve got.
Let’s close the funding gap today!
