Award-winning author Robin Stevenson will share the story of how she became a writer, where her ideas come from and what her creative process looks like. She will lead the group in a brainstorming exercise to illustrate how to develop a story through an understanding of its characters. Working together, participants will develop a character, explore possibilities for conflict, and uncover the myriad of story possibilities that this leads to. Robin will give some tips for how they can continue their stories on their own, and answer questions about writing and becoming an author.
Robin Stevenson is the author of more than two dozen books of fiction and non-fiction for kids and teens. She is a Stonewall Honor winner and Lambda Literary Award finalist, and has won or been nominated many other awards. Her books include KID ACTIVISTS, PRIDE: THE CELEBRATION AND THE STRUGGLE, PRIDE COLORS, WHEN YOU GET THE CHANCE, THE SUMMER WE SAVED THE BEES and many more. She lives in Canada with her family.
