The complaints (of which there were 420) were of parents worrying
that children reading the book would think “homosexuality is a
lifestyle that is acceptable.” And we wonder why it’s so hard for
children to come out to their parents? We wonder why so many gay
youth take their own lives?
On a more uplifting note, it’s worth mentioning that the number of
complaints dropped from 546 in 2006. At least we’re moving in the
right direction!
