Family Equality is thrilled to have the support of corporations who both serve our communities and elevate our work through their contributions to our organization. Our National Corporate Sponsors include some of the most innovative and intentional companies, who don’t just seek to find customers within our community—but who are also serious about engaging LGBTQ families and those who seek to form them with care, sensitivity, and thoughtfulness.
Among these is CCRM Fertility, a leading fertility clinic network with 11 locations across the US and Canada. So, we sat down with CCRM to ask them more about their work with LGBTQ+ families. We are so grateful for their support!
Q: Tell us a bit about CCRM’s commitment to LGBTQ families.
CCRM’s goal is to be a leader in inclusive fertility healthcare and we’re proud to partner with both Family Equality and local community partners to attain this goal. In addition to providing staff with ongoing training with Family Equality’s Open Door training program, we’re also participating in events across the country to help educate LGBTQ individuals, couples and families on the various paths to parenthood.
Q: We now know that over 63% of LGBTQ millennials are interested in adding children to their families. We also know that many are intimidated by the process. What is something you want LGBTQ millennials to know about working with CCRM?
Fertility clinics play a crucial role in helping prospective LGBTQ parents grow their families. We understand that using fertility treatments to grow your family can be both intimidating and complex, so our goal is to take the fear out of the process by empowering people to make informed decisions that can positively impact their future. We are committed to supporting LGBTQ families and those who seek to form them. Our staff is competent, empathetic and well-versed in the unique needs of all members of the LGBTQ community.
Q: Can you tell us more about your patients? How do you make them feel especially welcome?
Firsthand from a CCRM patient: “My wife and I were really frustrated by another facility’s inefficiencies and its lack of sensitivity to our needs as two married women. We were recently referred to CCRM by one of our friends who was a prior patient. From the first minute, our doctor really made us very comfortable with his gentle manner, sense of humor, and expertise in LBGTQ fertility care. We just found out we are pregnant with our most recent IUI!!!” This kind of feedback is why we do this work!
Q: And what about healthcare professionals? How do they feel about going through Open Door training?
Firsthand from a CCRM physician: “I found the Open Door Professional Training program very helpful for my day-to-day practice. Even though I consider myself a progressive provider and an advocate for LGBTQ rights and access to treatment, this program gave me new insight into how systemic issues in ones’ practice and language can compromise patient/clinical relationships and, therefore, care. At CCRM, all of our physicians and staff participated in this training with overwhelming support. Everyone found the program useful and learned important tools to care for patients in the LGBTQ community. Open Door Training was key in our mission to be the most open and accessible place for LGBTQ patients to receive care,” said Sara Barton, CCRM Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist.
Q: Is there anything else you want LGBTQ families to know about CCRM?
CCRM currently operates in 11 locations across the U.S. and Canada, including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, Houston, New York, Northern Virginia, Minneapolis, Orange County, San Francisco Bay Area, and Toronto.
Not every fertility clinic is able to take care of all of your needs in-house. CCRM leverages its own data, as well as a dedicated team of in-house reproductive endocrinologists, embryologists, and genetic scientists in order to deliver consistent, successful results.
We encourage prospective LGBTQ parents to tap into us as a resource for family planning. Our team of world-class physicians is committed to becoming leaders in inclusive fertility healthcare through our innovative technology and cutting-edge labs, as well as our full suite of fertility services that include in vitro fertilization (IVF), fertility assessment, fertility preservation, and in-house genetic testing. Thanks to the availability of effective fertility procedures, our LGBTQ patients have an excellent chance of achieving pregnancy.
