As Family Equality Council looks ahead to an exciting new period of growth, we’re delighted to announce that our long-time Chief Program Officer, Brent Wright, is moving into a new role as Chief Operating Officer this month. In the new COO role, Brent will oversee organizational operations across departments, as we strive to advance both legal and lived equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer families, and for those who wish to form them, through building community, changing hearts and minds, and driving policy change.
Brent joined Family Equality Council in 2010, and has led our Program Department for the past seven years, in addition to serving as co-Interim Executive Director in 2015 – 2016. Throughout his career, Brent Wright has championed the cause of high-quality service options for families, working as Director of Operations at the Georgia Training Institute prior to joining Family Equality Council.
Announcing the change, CEO Stan J. Sloan said: “Family Equality Council is entering a new period of growth, as we position ourselves to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding population of LGBTQ adults who fully expect to form families, just as their straight and cisgender peers can. Drawing on his years of experience providing direct service to LGBTQ families, Brent is the perfect candidate to help build Family Equality Council’s capacity, and coordinating our work in Program, Policy and Communications.”
