May is National Foster Care Month, and today we want to share one of our favorite foster care success stories. We asked Nette Archangel, a member of our Southern Advisory Council, to share her foster care story, and this is what she wrote:
Jasmine and I met via a mutual friend in 2005 and began dating in 2008. On my 27th birthday I proposed to her on the steps of Jackson Square in our favorite spot in New Orleans. I was so eager to marry her and couldn’t wait for the chance so 3 months later we took a road trip to NYC with our bffs and tied the knot on July 19, 2012! A year later we purchased our home!
After Jasmine promising me we would be pregnant or adopt by her 30th birthday, we decided to add children to our two furry kids Crispay and Cinnabun in a unique way! We became foster parents while taking care of our great niece! We had five kids at one time with one of the five becoming legally our child!
On June 17, 2015 we adopted our son Lane!! Currently we are fostering a soon to be two year old; yes we have two toddler boys who are inseparable. We continue to foster and hope to adopt our current foster child while being huge advocates for the foster care system!
So why is my family unique? Because we are made with love. LIVE FREE is our motto!!
Much love!
