We knew her when! Congrats to our Outspoken Generation member Josephine Skriver, who was just named a Victoria’s Secret Angel.
The Danish model has long been open about her parents, a lesbian and a gay man who conceived her via IVF after her mother put in an ad in an LGBTQ newsletter looking for a gay male partner to help her build a family. In 2014, she became a member of Family Equality’s Outspoken Generation, which encourages those with LGBTQ parents to speak out about their personal stories.
“I hope I can help raise awareness about how amazing and loving parents members of the LGBTQ community can be,” she told I-D magazine in 2015. “The more people realize that my own upbringing and that of others were healthy, positive ones, the more they will come to understand that the love in an LGBTQ household is no different.”
The 22-year-old (pals with young Hollywood stars from Kendall Jenner to Selena Gomez) has even attended our annual Family Week celebration in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
East Coast Regional Manager Emily McGranachan says, “We are thrilled for Josephine and her well-deserved success! She is an inspiring advocate for LGBTQ families and embodies what the Outspoken Generation is all about – lifting up the voices of people with LGBTQ parents to advocate for our families!”
