At the age of 17, Ryan Andresen has worked for 11 years to earn an Eagle Scout award. After completing his final requirement of a “tolerance wall” to assist victims of bullying, Andresen was told that he would not be able to receive his award. Ironically, Andresen was disqualified because he had recently come out as gay.
The Boy Scouts of America said in a statement that due to Andresen’s sexual orientation and his refusal to agree to their principle of “Duty to God,” he is no longer eligible for membership.
