Bourke has since collected 2,500 signatures from parents, community leaders and scouts in his attempt to be reinstated. His petition details his experience and dedication as a scout leader, highlighting that he has had unanimous support from his Troop and and Scout leaders. Bourke is one of many to launch a petition urging Boy Scout leaders to reject the anti-gay policy.

Greg is also a scout master in his daughter’s Girl Scout troop and remains an active member of that organization as the Girl Scouts do not have any policy barring LGBT youth and leaders.
