How are those New Year’s Resolutions coming along?
At Family Equality Council, one of our New Year’s Resolutions was to find new ways to support local, LGBT Parent Groups doing amazing work across the country. To reach this goal, we’ve already put into place a few of our resolutions:
We’ve created a facebook group for all members of all LGBT Parent Groups to connect and report news from their town or city.
For leaders of Parent Groups, we are holding regional conference calls throughout the year. These calls will be an opportunity to share your group’s ideas and challenges with Family Equality Council and fellow Parent Group leaders – and we look forward to finding ways of collaborating to meet your needs.
We’ve mapped parent groups all over the country on our new website, noting every city or town with a Parent Group we know of. Take a look here to see if there’s one near you.
We’ve published a guide to starting a parent group. That way, if you can’t find a group in your area you have the tools to do it yourself!
It’s our goal to have this resource available to each and every parent who needs it, no matter where they live. From San Francisco to New Orleans, and Hawaii to Alaska, we are here to make sure that all families are supported and connected.
We’re here to support the work happening in communities all over the United States – if you have questions, email me.
In 2012 – we will build a large network of support for families all across our country.
