Nearly 600 Families From Around the Globe Attend Family Equality’s 31st Annual Family Week in Provincetown

Over 1,300 individuals gathered in Provincetown for the largest annual gathering of LGBTQ+ families in the world

Provincetown, MA — From July 26 to August 2, 2025, Family Equality, the leading national organization for current and future LGBTQ+ families, welcomed nearly 600 families and more than 1,300 individuals to Provincetown, Massachusetts for a week of critical celebration, support, and connection.

Founded as a gathering of a couple dozen LGBTQ+ families in 1994, Family Equality’s Family Week in Provincetown has grown into a week-long international gathering with events from sunrise to sunset including:

  • Community-building events like the annual Beach Bash and daily gatherings of youth and parents,
  • Moments of LGBTQ+ joy, including appearances and performances from queens like Tara Hoot, Nina West, and Miss Richfield 1981; the annual Family Pride Parade with grand marshals Tara Hoot, Judy Gold, Sneha Scharbach, and Donna Walker; and Family Night Out,
  • Opportunities for families to learn more and get involved in Family Equality’s year-round advocacy work through our State of LGBTQ+ Families Panel and storytelling initiatives,
  • Family Equality’s second annual Family Day, which welcomed 18 families in the Boston metro area to experience the fun of Family Week in 24 hours.

“Family Week is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when LGBTQ+ families are seen, celebrated, and supported in community with one another,” said Darra Gordon, CEO of Family Equality. “In a moment when our families are facing rising discrimination and deepening isolation, creating spaces where we can gather, find joy, and build strength together isn’t just meaningful, it’s necessary. That’s why Family Equality works year-round to provide these resources to all LGBTQ+ families across the country — from peer support spaces to storytelling and advocacy initiatives. In fact, we’re already setting our sights on upcoming gatherings in Minneapolis this October and Atlanta next spring to meet families where they are, and ensure they feel connected, affirmed, and fiercely supported no matter where they live.”

In addition to co-hosting Family Week each year, Family Equality works to protect, support, and connect LGBTQ+ families through robust resources, webinars, peer support spaces, policy and advocacy work, storytelling initiatives, community building events like Family Weekend in the Midwest and South, and more. Family Week 2026 is scheduled for July 25 – August 1, 2026.
