Via Twitter yesterday, actor Neil Patrick Harris announced he and
his partner are expecting twins this fall. Harris tweeted, “So,
get this: David and I are expecting twins this fall. We’re super
excited/nervous/thrilled.” Jennifer Chrisler, executive director
of Family Equality Council, issued a statement responding to the
news.
“As a lesbian mom of twins, and the executive director of the
leading national organization representing the one million lesbian,
gay, bisexual, and transgender raising two million children in the
U.S., I could not be more excited for Harris and his partner,
David. They will no doubt face the same challenges–and endless
rewards– any parent faces. While their privacy is paramount, I
would encourage the couple to be visible with their new family.
This country needs to see and get to know gay parents raising
wonderful kids. Visibility is how we change hearts and
minds.”
