Kick-Off Games
All families are welcome! Come join us for the first official event
of the week! Start your vacation by relaxing and mingling with
other families at Crown & Anchor. This is the perfect place to
meet new people and reconnect with old friends. Bring your spirit
of friendly competition and cheer on other families as we play
games for all ages! Family-friendly cash bar available.
Welcome Brunch
Join us while families continue arriving for Family Week! This is
the perfect opportunity to see your old friends as they arrive and
make new ones at the very beginning of the week! If you’ve just
made the trek to Provincetown, make sure you have your first meal
already planned by attending the Welcome Brunch.
A Sign-Making Party for the Family Unity & Pride
Parade
Make and decorate signs and noisemakers for this Family Week
signature event. Family Equality Council will provide bright and
beautiful materials to make the parade props that will showcase how
loud and proud you and your family are! Bring a plastic bottle to
make your own noisemaker.
Family Unity & Pride Parade and
Celebration
Carry a sign, stroll, and sing along to show your pride with your
family! We will assemble at Bas Relief Park, walk south on Ryder
St., walk west on Commercial St., then north on Court St., walk
east on Bradford St. and end at Bas Relief Park once again. Parade
culminates with a special celebration — great for the little
ones.
Family Equality Council with Ken Weissenberg and Brian
Sheerin present: Multicultural Gathering & BBQ
Our families represent a multitude of identities. At the
Multicultural Gathering, we will come together to celebrate this
diversity, as well as the commonality between us. Enjoy a BBQ and
time at the pool with some new friends! Family-friendly cash bar
available.
Little Gatherings for Little Ones
Great for children 4 & under with their parents! Take your
morning walk to the park with your little one(s) to play with
friends big and small! We’ll have arts & crafts,
age-appropriate games, children’s yoga by Joanne Lloyd, and a
bouncy house available. This is also a great opportunity for
parents to meet and share stories.
Rainbow Friends Activity Time (Children’s
Programming)
Join the Family Equality Council as we bring back our popular
programming designed especially for children ages 3-8! The kids
will be broken up into three age groups and participate in lots of
fun, enriching activities. We’ll have arts and crafts, lively
games, story time, gym play, and much more! Bring your kids to meet
and play with their peers. Activity time is first come first serve
each day, no pre-registration required.
Adult Programming
While your kids are at Activity Time, come and connect with other
parents. You’ll be able to meet and talk with parents dealing
with the same issues your family faces. Sessions will be
facilitated, but you’ll have plenty of opportunities to shape the
conversations! More details about topics will be coming soon.
Coffee Klatches
Grab a coffee or an afternoon treat and meet up with parents for
informal discussions centered on particular identities. Kids are
welcome, but there will not be any specific programming. Location
and topics to be announced.
Think Theater Project 2010
Think Theater will be joining us at Family Week again in 2010, but
this time with a new play for kids ages 5 to 8 years old! They’ll
be performing throughout the week at the Art House so make sure you
catch this original play titled SuperBen by Philip Mutz. SuperBen
is the adventure of Ben and Leslie, two wildly imaginative best
friends, who are given a sudden dose of reality when Ben starts
getting bullied at school. The friends must go to superhero lengths
to solve their bully problem. Along the way, new doors are opened
as they learn to trust themselves and understand the importance of
accepting others. This new 30-minute play by Philip Mutz tackles
serious issues and offers real-life solutions. It’s guaranteed to
be a blast! The play will be followed by a short workshop in which
the actors talk about the themes of the play with fun,
age-appropriate activities for the kids. For more information and
