Scott Brown joins us from California Cryobank to discuss working with sperm donors and cryobanks. Erica Horton of Growing Generations discusses surrogacy and egg donation, and Dr Juan Alvarez of Fertility Centers of Illinois explains fertility treatments for gay and lesbian prospective parents.

Meet Our Guests

Scott Brown is the Director of Client Experience for California Cryobank. A graduate of UCLA and devoted husband/father, Scott has spent the last 12 years helping create families around the world through donor sperm and egg conception. A passionate advocate for LGBTQ family building, he is a regular speaker at family building events and seminars around the country. Scott’s media appearances include Dr. Phil, The Doctors, Nightline, and CNN discussing various aspects of the donor sperm industry.

Erica Horton is the President and Partner at Growing Generations-a world renowned surrogacy and egg donor agency serving the LGBTQ community. She was worked in family creation since 2003 and has helped create over 1000 LGBTQ families. She has two children: Gavin and Jack. Both boys were conceived with the help of an anonymous sperm donor. As a strong advocate for all families, Erica is passionate about helping people realize their dream of becoming parents. Erica also serves as Chair of Family Equality Council’s Board of Directors.

Dr. Juan P. Alvarez with Fertility Centers of Illinois is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and completed his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of California, Los Angeles and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Alvarez completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Emory University School of Medicine and received his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. A native of Colombia and fluent in Spanish, Dr. Alvarez feels a special connection to Latino/Hispanic patients and is committed to helping, treating, and advocating for the reproductive health of the LGBTQ community with a specific interest in egg donation, sperm donation, and surrogacy.
