While there are currently four openly gay members of Congress, the 2012 election year may bring more LGBT faces into office. A total of eight congressional candidates running for office this November are openly LGBT, including two incumbents. This is the highest number of openly LGBT identified candidates to run on major party platforms for eats in the House of Representatives. All candidates have said that their sexual orientation has not been a major issue within their prospective races.
