The Obama administration has taken a firm stand in favor of adoption rights for LGBT couples. The administration has made strides in granting rights and protections to LGBT parents by extending the Family and Medical Leave Act to cover same-sex partners.
The Obama administration expressed last year that President Obama does not believe that gay foster care parents should be discriminated against. The administration has even launched a program called Adopt Us Kids, which has reached out to LGBT adults to help find families for hard to place children.
