France Proposes Form Changes as Part of Marriage Legalization

France is working to become the next country that legalizes same-sex marriage and in doing so, may also ban the use of the words “mother” and “father” in the nation’s civil code.  

The proposed law states that “marriage is a union of two people, of different or the same gender,” and all references to mothers and fathers within civil code will be swapped with the word, “parents.” 

The law will also give equal adoption rights to same-sex couples.
