SUMMARY:Talking To Your Kids About Sex: For Families with Youth 9+
DESCRIPTION:When it comes to talking to your children about sex\, our motto is: Talk early\, talk often! That’s right—we believe parents are the most influential sex educators for their children. From toddlerhood to the teenage years\, there are millions of opportunities for you to start conversations in a way that will lead to healthy attitudes and outcomes. Join Family Tree Clinic’s Sex Educator\, Lindsey Hoskins\, to learn more about how to communicate with your children about sexuality in a way that is healthy and developmentally appropriate. If the thought of “the talk” makes your palms sweat a little\, this workshop is for you! \nThis workshop will be geared towards parents/caregivers of children 9 years old and older. \nOops! We could not locate your form. \nLindsey Hoskins is a deeply committed sex nerd with a degree in Sex Education. She dove into this work in 1999 and fell in love with helping folks get comfy and start talking about topics that can often be challenging. Lindsey joined Family Tree in 2002 and is now the Director of Health Education. Lindsey is most proud of the peer sex-ed program she started for queer and trans teens and her work with parents of young children. Lindsey is happiest when teaching puberty\, and don’t even get her started on lube. In 2017\, her book\, Principles of Pleasure: Working with the Good Stuff as Sex Therapists and Educators\, was released. Her mother is very proud.

We could not locate your form. \n\nASL interpretation is available if needed. Please email us to request it! \n  \nDr. Bukky joins Family Equality to discuss some basic skills LGBTQ+ parents can use for navigating emotional/difficult conversations.  Through an interactive and experiential virtual workshop\, she will help participants answer questions such as what exactly does it look like to “hold emotional space” for someone? To “lean in” with empathy”? What is helpful or not helpful to do in such conversations? Is everyone able to feel empathy?  Dr. Bukky aims to offer simple\, concrete information to support you in cultivating your ability to show up for your family and friends in more emotionally attuned ways.  This is the first session in a 2-part series.\n  \nDr Bukky Kolawole is the founder and Executive Director of Relationship HQ\, a place that exists to nurture vibrant human connection so that anyone served feels whole\, seen\, and celebrated in the mirror and in the world.  She* is a clinical psychologist with over 10 years of experience serving as a therapist to queer people and their partners/families.  She specializes in providing couples therapy and providing dynamic and experiential workshops focused on strengthening interpersonal relationships with people and organizations.\n  \nThis will be an interactive\, 90-minute session. Space will be affirming of all identities and is poly-friendly. It is preferred that people who identify as being in a partnership together be on the same camera\, however\, if that is not possible let us know; you can still participate! If you identify as single\, please bring along someone who you are in a closer relationship with (the relationship does not have to be romantic).\n  \nASL interpretation is available if needed. Please email us to request it!

SUMMARY:WORLD PREMIERE: 10 Minute Heart-Brain Connection Meditation
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Wednesday for a much-needed 10 minute break to your week—or tune in later to watch anytime you’re in need of some brain and body refreshment!\n\nOur heart is more than just an organ\, it’s an expansive energy center. There are more nerve connections between the heart and the brain than any other system in the body – in fact\, 90% of these connecting fibers ascend from the heart up to the brain. These neural pathways are constantly sending signals that interact with the brain’s higher cognitive and emotional centers\, and it has been scientifically proven that practicing positive emotions both increases intuition and promotes creativity.\n\nThis bite-sized workshop will start with a brief lesson about the heart-brain connection and end with an uplifting\, heart centered meditation to evoke full body balance.  Leave feeling refreshed and radiant! \n\nAbout Amanda Leaveck\nAmanda Leaveck specializes in helping high achievers slow down\, find balance\, and flow through life with more ease. Through a neuroscience-based curriculum\, yoga\, meditation\, and honoring the earth’s cycles and seasons\, her clients learn tangible skills to help them live more delicious lives.  In addition to attaining a B.S. in Neuroscience at the University of Saint Thomas\, she graduated from the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration in 2017\, where she focused on the integral relationship between connective tissue and the nervous system.  Through coaching\, yoga\, meditation\, online courses\, and her virtual learning platform\, Science & Magic\, Amanda offers services that connect us all more deeply to our brilliant human bodies. SUMMARY:Social Justice Education: Criminal Justice and the LGBTQ+ Community
DESCRIPTION:You may have heard that COVID-19 is ravaging jails\, prisons\, and detention centers across the U.S. But did you know that LGBTQ+ people are more likely to be incarcerated than our non-LGBTQ+ counterparts? Did you know that LGBTQ+ people are more likely to be serving life sentences and are more likely to be held in solitary confinement than others? If you’ve ever wanted to learn about America’s criminal justice system and how it uniquely impacts the LGBTQ+ community\, join Family Equality for this interactive session offered in partnership with Beyond These Walls and Our Family Coalition. Our three organizations are pleased to offer this unique opportunity for LGBTQ+ families to learn more about our community members living behind bars. You’ll also learn how to take action today to provide immediate relief to prisoners impacted by COVID-19.\n\nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT. \n\nBeyond These Walls provides direct support\, education\, and advocacy for and with LGBTQ+ prisoners in the Pacific NW (and trans prisoners everywhere). They are currently running an active COVID-19 Crisis Line for incarcerated people and their families\, in addition to overseeing several prisoner leadership programs behind bars.\n\nOur Family Coalition advances equity for lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, transgender\, and queer (LGBTQ) families with children through support\, education\, and advocacy. They offer workshops\, support groups\, outings\, seasonal celebrations\, meet-ups\, classes\, play dates and referrals for LGBTQ families in San Francisco and the East Bay\, and will be providing many of those regular programs online for the duration of the current pandemic.

SUMMARY:Your Needs Matter: Self Care in a Pandemic
DESCRIPTION:Your Needs Matter: Why Caring for Your Self is an Act of Generosity \nMainstream parenting culture might have you believe it’s selfish to prioritize your own Self-care. But especially during this global pandemic\, it’s important to deconstruct and consciously examine the beliefs you hold about how much you’re allowed to tend to your Self\, the impact your Self-care has on your relationship with your child\, and more. In this workshop with Nic Strack\, you’ll have an opportunity to discover some of the most impactful beliefs you hold around what it means to care for your Self and start to reframe how you think about the importance of care. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER FOR THIS WEBINAR.  \nNic Strack (pronouns: they/them) is a Parenting Coach; they help parents custom-create their own parenting styles in order to make more conscious choices with confidence and grace. They have a degree in Cognitive Science & Psychology from the University of California – Berkeley\, and they’re a brilliant\, hilarious\, awkward-as-fuck human who’s proud to be an autistic non-binary queer parent of color to a 3.5 year old little one. \nFollow Nic on social @nicstrack!
