SUMMARY:Celebrating Nonbinary Parents Day with Founder Johnny Blazes
DESCRIPTION:  \nAt Family Equality\, we know that there is no one way to build a family\, nor is there any single universal kind of parent. Some parents celebrate Mothers’ Day in May\, Fathers’ Day in June\, or parents day in July. When Johnny became a parent\, they wanted a special day to celebrate their parenthood—and they invited their nonbinary parent friends to join along.   \nJess Venable-Novak\, Family Equality’s Family Engagement Manager\, sat down to talk with Johnny about being a nonbinary parent\, founding a special day to celebrate nonbinary parents\, and how the holiday has changed over the years.  \nTW//Infant Loss

SUMMARY:The Forgotten LGBTQ+ Family: An Interview with Jey’nce Poindexter
DESCRIPTION:Tune in on Youtube \nTune in on Facebook \nThrough the many ways LGBTQ+ individuals have formed families\, one of the most overlooked formed families—and the home to many Black and Brown queer folks—is the ballroom community and culture. In this interview\, Family Equality’s Chief Program Officer\, Serena Johnson\, sits down with Jey’nce Poindexter\, the Iconic House Mother of the Legendary House of Mizrahi\, to talk about her experiences of working to build acknowledgment from the greater LGBTQ+ community and local nonprofits of her formed family as a home to many LGBTQ+ displaced youth and adults. \nJey’nce Poindexter is a nationally acclaimed advocate for the LGBTQ community. She serves as a voice for survivors of racial injustice\, domestic violence\, sexual assault\, partner-on-partner violence\, and HIV/AIDS. Jey’nce is the Trans Sistas of Color Project’s vice president and a co-chair of the Fair and Equal initiative. She recently joined the staff of the Ruth Ellis Center. \n

SUMMARY:LGBTQ-&-A: Community Conversations
DESCRIPTION:Calling all LGBTQ+ prospective parents- especially our trans & non-binary parents-to-be! \nIn this LGBTQ & A: Community Conversation session we will be discussing strategies for self-advocating in fertility spaces. Too often\, as LGBTQ+ people\, we don’t have access to LGBTQ+ friendly and LGBTQ+ competent family building practitioners. This puts our community – specifically transgender and non-binary people – in a position of needing to advocate for ourselves and our needs while also being a patient and receiving services. During our time together we will be exploring how folks can balance self-advocacy and self-care. \nOur LGBTQ & A: Community Conversation sessions are interactive and a space for folks to come and listen\, but also engage and share their experience with the session’s topic. We hope you’ll join us! \nThis session is sponsored by California Cryobank. \nTo register for this event and receive log-in info\, fill out the form below:  \nOops!
