SUMMARY:Book Nook: An LGBTQ+ Family Book Club - Tales from Beyond the Rainbow
DESCRIPTION:Reading is what? FUNdamental! Join us for a casual family discussion of Tales from Beyond the Rainbow: Ten LGBTQ+ Fairy Tales Proudly Reclaimed by Pete Jordi Wood. Together\, we’ll chat about fairytales\, representation\, and happy endings and close out our talk by sharing resources to help you and your family advocate for more inclusive books in and out of the classroom. You can pick up Tales from Beyond the Rainbow at your local library\, for free through the Queer Liberation Library\, or purchase it from our preferred local vendor\, Main Street Books. While the book is marketed to middle graders\, adults may find “it makes a thrilling read-aloud for younger ages as well.”  \n\n\n\n\nRegister today!\n\n\n\n\nAbout Book Nook: An LGBTQ+ Book Club\n\n\n\nAccording to PEN America\, there were nearly 7\,000 instances of book bans affecting nearly 4\,000 unique titles in schools and libraries for the 2024-2025 school year. At a time when stories about LGBTQ+ people and families are under attack from politicians and school boards\, Family Equality’s in-person Book Nook meeting will create a space where families can connect and see themselves reflected in the media.  \n\n\n\nThe book club is intended to be an informal book club for families with school-aged children. It will include an introduction to the material\, reflection questions\, and the opportunity for families to provide feedback on what this programming should look like long-term. Through this program\, families will explore storytelling from diverse communities and create their own connections.

SUMMARY:Capital Pride
DESCRIPTION:Come find Family Equality at Capital Pride 2026! We’ll have a table on-site where you can connect with our team\, learn about our work\, and pick up some great products — generously provided by our sponsor\, CARE WITH PRIDE® initiative. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Capital Pride Alliance: \n\n\n\nThe Capital Pride Alliance (CPA)\, at the annual Capital Pride Reveal event\, proudly hosted and presented by the Hamilton Hotel Washington DC\, unveiled its powerful 2026 theme: Exist. Resist. Have the Audacity! — a bold declaration affirming the presence\, resilience\, and courage of LGBTQ+ people around the world. Grounded in the undeniable truth that our existence is not up for debate\, this year’s theme calls on the community to live loudly and proudly\, stand firm against injustice and erasure\, and embody the collective strength that has always defined the LGBTQ+ community. In a time when LGBTQ+ rights and history continue to face challenges\, especially in our Nation’s Capital\, where policy and public discourse shape the future of our country\, together\, we must ensure that our voices are visible\, heard\, and unapologetically centered. \n\n\n\n\nLearn more about Capital Pride Alliance

It is a space to reconnect\, to learn from one another\, and to strengthen the relationships that sustain movements over time. By centering intergenerational dialogue and collective care\, IGNYTE affirms that our greatest power lies in one another.
